Tooth and Nail
for two violins, piano, and percussion (found objects)
duration: c. 9' 00"
about:
This piece revolves around two people in a relationship, whether it be family members, best friends, or a couple, represented by the violinists, who are facing eachother across a table over a meal. An argument breaks out. The roles of the pianist include being a reflection of the emotions that are surfacing and giving them greater resonance, as well as acting as the outside world, occasionally interjecting and bringing up new issues. The role of the percussionist is to essentially reflect the actions of the two people and the back and forth nature of the argument.
